City of Straw

City of Straw is the seventh studio album from Sightings, the New York trio of Mark Morgan (guitar, vocals), Richard Hoffman (bass) and Jon Lockie (drums). The band spent the 2000s at the outer edge of rock, building songs out of feedback, junked-out electronics and a rhythm section that swings as hard as it bludgeons.

Recorded over several months in 2009 at The Ocropolis, Oneida's Brooklyn studio, and released on Oneida's Brah Records imprint, City of Straw finds Sightings pulling their noise toward something closer to songcraft without losing any of the menace. Eight tracks, including "Tar and Pine," "Saccharine Traps," "Weehawken" and the title track.
