Marlon Williams

BIOGRAPHY
Marlon Williams is a New Zealand singer-songwriter and actor known for his rich, soulful voice and his ability to blend elements of folk, country, rock, and indie music. Williams' music is characterized by its emotional depth, storytelling, and a timeless quality that draws from traditional genres while feeling fresh and contemporary.

Born in Christchurch, New Zealand, Williams grew up with a strong influence of country, folk, and Māori music. His early exposure to these genres, along with his classical choir training, shaped his unique vocal style, which is both powerful and hauntingly beautiful.

Williams first gained attention as the frontman of the New Zealand alt-country band The Unfaithful Ways, and later as part of a duo with fellow musician Delaney Davidson. His work with Davidson, particularly their Sad But True series, showcased his talent for crafting poignant, melancholic songs with a vintage country feel.

His self-titled debut solo album, Marlon Williams (2015), marked the beginning of his rise to international fame. The album received critical acclaim for its blend of Americana, folk, and country influences, as well as for Williams' distinctive voice, which has been compared to the likes of Roy Orbison. . .
