Gauntlet Hair

BIOGRAPHY

Gauntlet Hair was an American indie rock band known for their unique sound that blended elements of noise pop, post-punk, and experimental rock. Their music was characterized by reverb-drenched guitars, heavy use of effects, and dynamic, often chaotic rhythms. The vocals were usually layered with echo, contributing to a distant, haunting quality that became a signature of their style.

Formed in Denver, Colorado, in 2009, Gauntlet Hair was initially a duo consisting of Andy R. and Craig Nice. The band quickly gained attention for their energetic live performances and innovative approach to songwriting and production. Their sound drew comparisons to bands like Animal Collective and My Bloody Valentine, but they maintained a distinct identity through their creative use of noise and texture.

Gauntlet Hair released their self-titled debut album in 2011, which received critical acclaim for its fresh take on the indie rock genre. They followed up with their second album, Stills, in 2013, which showed a darker and more refined sound. Despite their promising start, the band disbanded in 2013, leaving behind a small but impactful discography.
