Blackout Beach

BIOGRAPHY

Blackout Beach was a solo project of Canadian musician Carey Mercer, who is best known as the lead singer and guitarist of the band Frog Eyes. Blackout Beach's music is often characterized by its dark, atmospheric, and experimental sound, blending elements of post-punk, art rock, and avant-garde music. Mercer's distinctive, often theatrical vocal delivery and dense, poetic lyrics are central to the project's aesthetic.

The music of Blackout Beach is typically moody and introspective, with an emphasis on creating a brooding, immersive atmosphere. The project's 2008 album Skin of Evil is perhaps its most well-known release, featuring stark, minimalist instrumentation that contrasts with Mercer's intense vocal performances. The album was critically acclaimed for its haunting soundscapes and emotional depth.

While Blackout Beach is more of an experimental and less accessible project compared to Frog Eyes, it showcases Carey Mercer's unique artistic vision and his ability to craft deeply evocative and challenging music.
