A Place to Bury Strangers

BIOGRAPHY

A Place to Bury Strangers is a New York City-based band known for their intense and noisy sound, which blends elements of shoegaze, post-punk, and space rock. The band's music is characterized by heavy use of reverb, delay effects, and feedback, creating a dense, atmospheric, and often chaotic soundscape. Formed in 2002 by guitarist and vocalist Oliver Ackermann, who also runs the effects pedal company Death By Audio, the band is renowned for their visceral live performances that push the limits of volume and intensity. Their dark and brooding style is often compared to bands like The Jesus and Mary Chain, My Bloody Valentine, and Joy Division, but with a more abrasive and experimental edge.
